Adamawa Christians Now have a Secretariat

His lordship, the Most Rev. Dr Stephen Dami Mamza, the Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese and the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa State, has today fulfilled the promise he made the National President CAN Pastor Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle to have a secretariat built for Christians in the state.

Present at the commissioning ceremony was the National President himself alongside other stakeholders and especially members of the Ruling and political classes across the state and beyond.

Recalling his promise made to the National CAN president on 19th November 2017, Bishop Mamza said “During my Inaugural Speech, I promised that by the Grace of God I would invite you for the commissioning of a CAN Secretariat that would be belt under my leadership. Today, to the glory of God I have made good the promise I made about two years ago. You have equally fulfilled your own part by being here present in person.”

The Bishop further states that “I want to give special thanks to God for his mercies upon the Body of Christ in Adamawa State. It is indeed a thing of joy that we are celebrating the commissioning of this Secretariat all to the glory of God and the symbol of the unity of Christians in our state.”

Being in direct conflict with spiritual forces of evil, the Cleric noted that he was not surprised that the good intention behind the building of the secretariat was greeted with loads of oppositions. He however congratulated “those who believed in the will of God and worked tirelessly to see it come to fruition.”

While thanking all those who made sacrifices at different levels and within their resources, Bishop Mamza also called on individuals to stop using religion for their selfish political ambition and self-aggrandizement. He therefore maintained that “Christians can still be in different political parties but can still be of one mind and one heart. This secretariat does not belong to Christians who are in a particular political party but to all Christians in Adamawa State.”

Present at the ceremony too was the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Chief Crowther Seth.
