COVID-19: Come together in prayers-Bishop Mamza to believers

Adherents of the Christian and Islamic religions and other faith across the world have been urged to set aside their differences and come together in prayers with one voice for God’s intervention in the Global coronavirus pandemic and other related crises.

The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza made the call in an interview with newsmen in Yola against the backdrop of the declaration by Pope Francis for all adherents of various Religions to unite in a day of prayer and fasting which took place today 14 May 2020.

Bishop Dami Mamza explained that two weeks ago, Pope Francis had called on people of all nations irrespective of their creed and culture to unite spiritually through fasting, prayers and Almsgiving to God so that humanity can overcome the coronavirus pandemic.

He pointed out that, this call for prayers and fasting is not restricted to Catholics or Christians alone but to all adherents of other Religions across the world adding that the COVID-19 pandemic calls for collective efforts and prayers if we are to see an end to it.

The Bishop further said in the spirit of the day, the Catholic Diocese of Yola has decided to distribute disinfectants to the internally displaced person’s camp at Anguwan Kara besides National Youths service corps in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

I Bishop Dami Mamza appealed to people to intensify prayers and also to follow advice of experts if the country must win the fight against the virus.

The deadly virus has so far claimed over two hundred and ninety thousand lives across the globe.
