The Adamawa State CAN Chairman and Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Yola, Most Rev Stephen Dami Mamza, on behalf of all the Christians of the state felicitates with the entire Muslim Ummah as they join their counterparts globally to celebrate the Eid-ul-Adha today. In his message to the Muslim brothers and sisters, the CAN Chairman notes that the celebration “symbolises your faith and fidelity to God and also a sign of sacrifice and humility.”
While the celebration comes at a difficult time such as this period of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Chairman CAN, Adamawa State, enjoins both Muslims and Christians “to continue to strive in order to understand and put into practice what God wills for us as revealed in our Sacred Scriptures.”
Acknowledging that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our mode of worship and has impacted greatly on our communities, Bishop Mamza calls all to a life of solidarity and faith in God, if we must succeed in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.
“I hereby share in the sentiments offered by Pope Francis during his visit to the United Arab Emirate in February last year, 2019, when he says “Faith leads a believer to see in the other a brother or sister to be supported and loved. Through faith in God, who has created the universe, creatures and all human beings (equal on account of his mercy), believers are called to express this human fraternity by safeguarding creation and the entire universe and supporting all persons, especially the poorest and those most in need.”
“I believe it is human solidarity that will in the long run help us in this time of great uncertainty” the Bishop reiterates further.
